NXT Turbo Spirit
Optimizing production efficiency and lowering operational costs of RTD’s
The population of Australians consuming RTDs increased from 11% up to 13.5% in the past year [2], as reported by IBIS WORLD the market size of the RTD industry in Australia was measured at $1.2bn in 2023. [3]. The rising demand for premium and craft beverages is propelling the market growth. Consumers are seeking high-quality experiences in convenient formats. Diversification of product portfolios can cater to evolving consumer preferences and enhance market presence.
NXT Turbo Spirit is a blend of yeast and specific yeast nutrients, tailored for the production of high-quality neutral alcohol. It's particularly suited for creating a neutral alcohol base for various ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages, such as hard seltzers, ginger beers, hard teas, flavoured spirits-based drinks, canned cocktails, and their lower alcohol variations. NXT Turbo Spirit's high thermostability, along with a blend of organic and inorganic nutrients, promotes fast fermentation kinetics, enhancing production efficiency and lowering operational costs.
The cell membrane composition of yeast has a direct effect on its ability to tolerate ethanol [1], the particular membrane makeup of NXT Turbo Spirit enables it to withstand high ethanol concentrations and osmotic pressure, ensuring reliable performance. Ideal for manufacturers using simple sugars, NXT Turbo Spirit can effectively utilise common sugar sources like cane sugar (sucrose), glucose, liquid inverted sugar, or corn sugar (dextrose).
Given that many sugar bases lack sufficient nutrients for yeast, supplementation with specific nutrition is essential. While most options on the market offer yeast strains and nutrients separately, NXT Turbo Spirit provides them together. This integrated approach optimises overall performance, ensuring adequate yeast/nutrient dosage and streamlining the fermentation process for maximum efficiency.
While wort or malt extract can also be used with additional sugar sources, the inclusion of the enzyme glucoamylase (amyl glucosidase) may be necessary to achieve high attenuation. Although NXT Turbo Spirit contains an acidity regulator to buffer the pH of the sugar base or wash, it is advisable to ensure the pH is >3.0 for optimal results.
